5th Annual Bike Ride
This years One Family 5th Annual Bike Ride took place on May 31st in Unionville, Ontario. It was a bright and sunny day although a bit crisp and windy. However, this did not deter 130 riders from showing up to ride through the beautiful countryside to show their support for the victims of terror in Israel. The ride this year was especially meaningful as it was a ride in memory of all the victims of the bombing of The Dolphinarium, a seaside discotheque in Tel Aviv, which took place June 1 2001. Irina-Lipkin-Mejberg, a survivor of this attack, was on hand to talk to the bikers about her experience, and how touched she was that they were all with her to remember. One rider commented that he never rode so strong after hearing Irina’s moving words. All in all this is a great event that can happen with the tireless efforts of One Family Fund volunteers Click here for more information about One Family’s Annual Bike Ride

UWO Students Organize “One Party for Israel”
On the night of Saturday, September 20, 2008, over 400 Jewish students at the University of Western Ontario came together at an exciting Israel-themed fundraising evening with proceeds going to One Family Fund.
Western campus groups AEPi, PiLam, Hillel and IOC teamed up to organize one of the biggest, most exciting events ever. Many party-goers sported blue and white attire as a show of solidarity with Israel while they enjoyed Israeli food, drinks and more.
“So many people came out to support a great cause – the event was a huge success,” said organizer Jayme Alter. One Family Fund is grateful for the more than $1000 that was raised, and for the support of the UWO community.
The Speakers Action Group – Shirley Ann Haber
We partnered with the Speakers Action Group, an organization that promotes tolerance and understanding through a series of Business Lunch Lectures on human rights, etc.
Belzberg Cottage Experience
Our fourth annual cottage experience was a huge success. 8 teenaged boys who have lost parents or siblings in a terrorist attack in Israel spent two weeks hosted by Shirley and Brian Belzberg as well as their cottage community. This initiative has been organized over the years by Ari Greenberg and Emanuel Greenberg. This experience gives the boys a much needed break from the heaviness and sadness of their lives in Israel.
Golf Tournament at Devils Pulpit
Our second annual golf tournament was an incredible success. 70 golfers played 27 holes of exceptional golf at one of Canada’s most exclusive private clubs, enjoyed outrageous food and drinks, and superlative prizes. If you are interested in playing in the summer of 2009 please call our office and let us know. Click here for more information about One Family’s golf tournaments
Camp Gesher working with the Yaldeinu Organization
OFF participated in a joint program to bring 6 kids to Camp Gesher in Ontario. Our partners were Yaldeinu and the ICEJ, International Christian Embassy of Jerusalem, thanks to the generous support of Donna Hollbrook, Canadian Director ICEJ. The kids had a great time, and the project will continue in the summer of 2009.
Camp Timberlane Event
In 2008 OFF brought 20 Israeli kids and two counselors to Camp Timberlane in Haliburton for a month. There, they participated in all the camp activities, formed new friendships and memories that will last a lifetime, and enjoyed the warm, supportive environment of the camp. Yom Ha’Atzmaut Celebrations
What an incredible group of men and women. The Yowees, known as the Yids on Wheels, traveled to Israel WITH their motorcycles, to participate in the Yom Ha’atzmaut celebrations. We were the lucky recipients of their fundraising efforts, as they funded an incredible celebration day (yom kef) for victims and their families from Sderot and the north. We are so grateful for their continuous support and for their spirit!
Women’s Israel Mission
20 women from Canada and the US traveled to Israel to connect with the land and the people. Through a diverse range of physical and spiritual experiences in Israel, they were able to provide direct hands-on support to victims of terror and their families. Join us for our 2009 Women’s Mission: May 21-31, 2009. Click here for more information about One Family’s May Women’s Mission
What’s Cooking Event at Nella Cucina
An interactive culinary experience at Nella Cucina featured hands-on cooking class followed by an enjoyment of the results; wine tasting, and opportunity to purchase fabulous cookware (with a portion of the proceeds going to OFF). Overall a delightful evening that helped to raise both awareness of the needs of terror victims in Israel and significant funds to help them.
