Dear One Family Friend, Elul, 5773-August, 2013

Linoy Zohar lost the life she knew in February 2004, when a terrorist blew himself up on the bus she was riding on her way to school. She suffered severe burns and shrapnel wounds; eight other passengers were killed, and 40 were severely maimed.

Miraculously, most of Linoy’s physical injuries have healed; however she continues to suffer from serious post-traumatic stress. Despite her challenges, she willed herself to succeed, and with help from One Family Fund, she has indeed done so.

At age 26, Linoy recently graduated from university with straight As, having gathered enough courage to once again board the two busses required to get to campus. One Family has been at Linoy’s side from the beginning of her ordeal, and continues to support her ongoing psychological treatment, and dire financial situation resulting from her mother’s recent cancer diagnosis.

The reality of terror is that victims “will always require our help” says Joy Kaufman, a One Family Canada donor who generously helps sponsor the Zohar family. Since September, 2001, more than 1,400 Israelis have been murdered by terrorists, leaving countless bereaved families, and 1,000 orphaned children to cope with the consequences of such overwhelming loss.

After visiting the Zohars in Israel, Joy reports that: “They are profoundly grateful for everything that One Family does for them. One Family is a lifeline providing terror victims and their families the ongoing support they need to rebuild their shattered lives in the aftermath of terrorism’s horrific realities.”

As Rosh Hashanah approaches, please consider adding meaning to your life by pledging support for the lives of others traumatized by terror in Israel. A donation to One Family Fund Canada will provide ongoing financial, emotional, medical and psychological assistance for our Israeli brothers and sisters who continue to live under the shadow of terror and the threat of rockets, ambushes and attacks, while defending Israel with their lives.

One Family Fund Canada is most grateful for your generous support. In the spirit of “chazak chazak v’nitchazek” (let us be strong and strengthen each other), we wish you and your family a sweet New Year – L’ShanahTovah Tikkatevu.

With warm regards,
Pam Albert, Canadian Executive Director
