For my Bat Mitzvah I wanted to do something charitable for others who aren’t as fortunate as I am. I chose to donate baskets to the One Family Fund because the work they do is so important and meaningful. For the past four years I have been a camper at Camp Timberlane. I am always impressed that Camp Timberlane, along with One Family, brings over kids from Israel who have been affected in some way by terrorism. When I see the kids at camp they seem so happy, enjoying the moment and where they are. I wanted to play a small role in their positive summer experience.
I chose to create centerpieces for my luncheon filled with things that the kids coming to camp could use. The experience of making the baskets was fun. My family and some friends helped me and we all worked together on this project. Choosing what to put in the baskets was not hard at all. I just thought of what they would need while experiencing their summer at Timberlane.
I had never been to a Mitzvah Day before, so it was very interesting for me to see what it was like. I enjoyed seeing all the people who volunteered, and the effort they put into making it all a success. I liked the idea of having other people help create the baskets. It made me feel good working with others who wanted to join in helping out.
I’m so excited to see the kids at camp Timberlane enjoy their experience and to know that they are using everything that we donated.
