Gidion Lee (1934-2009) In Memoriam

[1]

He was born March 1934 in B’nei Brak in Eretz Israel in what was known as British controlled Palestine. Gidion joined the Israeli military serving in the Nahal an outgrowth of the Fighting Israeli Youth Movement.

Shortly after leaving the service he married Ruth and together they raised two sons Ido (Jeff) and Uzi (Rob), as well as 4 grandchildren with a 5th born December 30th, 2009.

In 1966 Gidion immigrated to Canada and settled in Toronto where he worked as an engineer designing cranes and elevators eventually establishing his own business.

Motorcycling and the YOWS were among his many passions. Gidion joined the YOWS shortly after the club was formed and has been an active member since.  He was always willing to help and participate in club activities whether marshaling a ride, partnering to organize the wildly successful Israel @ 60 Ride or R2R events. As an example of his generosity 5 years ago he volunteered to drive vans for One Family Fund taking visiting Israeli children and their families to Niagara Falls. He was noted for making them feel comfortable in our surroundings. Gideon was first responsible for arranging YOWS to help marshal the annual One Family Fund bicycle fund raiser, which as you know is now a cornerstone of the YOW Charity initiative.

To the YOWS Gidion will be remembered as one of those guys that took long rides with friends for weeks on end, had a huge heart and gave everyone a warm welcome.
Gidion, always with a smile, always ready to help. Gidion was our fellow YOW, our good friend, our mentor, a charitable and compassionate man.

Zichrono Lebracha (May his memory be blessed)
